"contemporary romance, split points of view, one man and one woman. The woman's name begins with the letter "I". The man is a hockey player. The woman is a masseuse/ physical therapist for hockey players. The setting is in a big city. A while back, the man bought drugs from Percy in a bar to relieve his mind from something. He's not proud of it. He's being blackmailed with a picture of him holding the drugs in a bar that threatens to destroy his hockey career. The woman's ex-boyfriend is Percy. They lived in an apartment together before she ended it and kicked him out. Percy is abusive, knows bad people, and is in the shady business. Percy left something in the apartment when he moved out and needs it back. The woman doesn't let him in and he threatens to break her window with a brick. The woman and the man accidently traded phones because they looked the same, the man sees the texts coming in from Percy, and rushes over to her apartment to get him to go away. She couldn't call for help because she couldn't get into the phone. She doesn't feel safe in her apartment and spends a few days with the man in his apartment. The woman changed the locks on her apartment door, but Percy still has access to the basement, which you get to by going outside. He changed the locks on the basement so the woman doesn't know what he's hiding there. The woman gets a letter of blackmail sent to the hockey faculty. She didn't want the hockey people to know about Percy, but now it's their business sense the letter was addressed to the faculty. The guy who runs the hockey team is super kind and gets the woman security even though she said she doesn't want it. Percy tells her that he needs the thing that he left in her apartment. She searched for it but couldn’t find it because it was underneath a floor board under her bed. He hid a gun there. Two men, brothers, enter her apartment, carrying guns, looking for Percy since he owes them money. The woman hides in the bathroom, and the man helps her escape through the window in the bathroom and down the fire escape. He saw the two brothers enter her apartment from across the street and figured something bad was about to happen. The woman and man are freaked out and scared, especially because they heard gunshots. Together they escape to a nearby bar, where they call the cops. The two brothers escape and Percy is killed by the gun shots. The police do eventually find at least one brother, throwing away the guns at a river. At the end of the book, the woman and professional hockey player who saved her end up together. "
