He owns a large plastic mechanical ornament that animates an explicit sexual scene when a button is pressed. He becomes obsessed with finding the person who made it and travels through Europe, China and later the USA. In China people are embarrassed/offended by the object because it's unusually obscene and not representative of what they normally manufacture. He eventually finds the maker and returns to the UK.
