The smugglers throw everyone overboard when off the coast but she survives by holding onto a glass float. Once on beach she hides under an upturned dinghy. Later she is helped by a woman who takes her back to her home, but after an accident, the refugee has to flee, leaving the woman dead. She assumes her identity and heads north through Italy to Germany. Some time later a detective finds her, having traced her from the scene of the death in southern italy"
