"A book about a group of friends that are living in a group home together and are aging out they are in their last years of high school. There are two girls and two boys one of the main girls has a crush on the angsty boy that lives in the group home and he protects her from bullies. The main girl's family didn't care about her or want her, the other girl was a drug addict, one dude was gay and the other was troubles. Their caretaker is an older gentle woman that treated them as their own but she found out she was dying from cancer. There is a large fire in the home and they all escape but the main girl doesn't know what happened to her friends. The main girl goes on to live a decent life working at a diner she's been to and doesn't keep in touch with the others until she receives a letter about them and the other girl got back into drugs and overdosed. The boy she loved either went down a wrong path or just disappeared and never kept in touch with anyone. He was always her protector and he was silent but strong for her. The other dude sent her the letter I believe. The book is black with lots of color splashed on it"
