"Hi everyone! I’m looking for a romance novel I read years ago (likely 1980s or 1990s, possibly Harlequin Presents or similar). Here’s what I remember: * The heroine is named **Savanna** (rich, sheltered, controlled by her powerful father). * The hero is **Brand Alexander** (or Brand, possibly with Alexander as surname), from a poor or “bad reputation” family. * As teenagers, they were paired together for a **school project where they had to care for a “baby.”** In this book it was a doll (treated like their baby). * They fall in love and **elope young**. * On their honeymoon, the hero is tracked down by police/authorities. He believes Savanna’s father has framed him or is using his influence. * To protect her from scandal and poverty, he cruelly tells her he never loved her and that the marriage meant nothing, forcing her to return to her father. * Years later, he returns wealthy and powerful. * Savanna is now a **journalist** and is about to get engaged to a “suitable” man her father approves of. * In the end they reconcile and have a formal wedding. A touching detail: **the doll from their school baby project is placed at the wedding as a symbolic guest/centerpiece.** It is NOT *The Marriage Risk* (that’s a different plot involving a secretary and pregnancy). Does this sound familiar to anyone? I would be so grateful for the title and author! "
