"Help me to identify a Sci-fi book. The main character is a member of am organization producing combat androids, and the androids appear to be biological in origin. The antagonists are a group of psychic people which aren't exactly human. Their plan involves creating a defect on the androids that makes them forget their weapons on the ground whenever they need to lay down, causing that army to lose a war. The main character changes the androids so their weapons are part of their arms. The wife/girlfriend of the main character is the daughter of one of the antagonists. The whole book is set on Earth in a not-so-distant future. There are no aliens or any mention of space travel. I've read the book around 2005, so it was published before it."
