"Hello, I am wanting to find a story where book 3 reveals a mage (thought to be a prodigy) discovered that his mother who is dead, was a former member of an organisation that was trying to manipulate society and mages (they have a goal but can't remeber the goal). The title has something about mages or sorcerers in it. There was also a previous scene where this mage was talking to a different character, who told him that if he didn't want to help him with his goal, he would wait around until the next prodigy came along. (The mage was powerful enough to do things other mages could do even if though they were very advanced in magic). We are wanting to find the series and book 1 and 2 if possible. It would also be more than 20 years old (latest it could have come out was 2005). "
