"During the Great Depression, a girl's mother dies. Her father promises her that they will never be separated, but within a year, he brings her to her grandmother's house to live. She dislikes the grandmother, who she consiers strict and mean. She runs away, taking shelter in a house in the country or by a lake, that the family uses in the summertime. The girl becomes very sick and is subsequently brought back to the grandmother's house and reunited with her father. Children's and/or YA novel."
