One day she helps a man and then she is rewarded with lovely gifts. Her step-mother and step-sister are jealous and they want the fine things, also. The step-sister meets the man but she is rude and haughty so she is given snakes, hornets and other things that chase her and her mother away. Published in the 1980's I think. "
