Guess the Book

A father and his young son trek across a scorched American landscape ravaged by an unspecified cataclysm that has extinguished almost all life. They travel toward the southern coast to escape the lethal winter, scavenging for canned goods while avoiding gangs of cannibals who roam the ash-covered terrain.
